CONTACT LENS TRAINING RESOURCES

You've decided to try contact lenses. How exciting! Let's get started by having you review these resources prior to your appointment. We will go over things in more detail once you come in for your contact lens fitting and training appointment, but reviewing these ahead of time should make you feel more comfortable.

General Rules

  • Always make sure that your hands are washed prior to touching your eyes, face, or contact lenses
  • Contact lenses should never come into contact with water or anything other than multipurpose contact lens solution or it will damage the contact lens material permanently and greatly increase the risk of infection/eye complications
  • Never use water to clean or store your contact lenses
  • Do not swim or shower with contacts.
When first wearing your lenses you may notice:
  • An itchy or foreign sensation
  • One lens more noticeable than the other
  • One eye seeing better than the other
  • Vision not as clear as with glasses
  • Some difficulty with handling your lenses
Remove your lenses immediately and see your eye doctor if:
  • You experience unusual burning, irritation, pain, redness, discharge, watery eyes, or extreme light sensitivity
  • Vision becomes abnormally blurry and does not clear up
  • You suspect something is wrong
